Erin Norby, doyenne of the little league fashion world, has worked so hard to ensure that we have the best outfitted players in all the land these last couple years. When I think of Erin, I think of her sitting on her living room floor at midnight, red-eyed, knee-deep in boxes of baseball clothes, distributing uniforms to coaches.

I don’t have one specific memory, but Erin always has the warmest smile on her face whenever I see her!

Check out audio clip, and not necessary "favorite" but most amusing....TLDL, when I went out once for Gelato w/ Erin, then a week later she says she's now dating a guy named Gerald who just started coming to Bucktown Chabad. I said "alright!" It worked out, woohoo!

Surprising Gerald for his birthday

So many memories to choose from but the shared trauma of Mr O'Neill's physics classes are probably the most searing -- so glad that we were able to go to Governor's school together.

I’m so mature my memory is failing me—just all of law school. Erin you were always the spunkiest, brightest little dame in the halls at Chicago. You really helped draw me out.

There are too many to pick from, but it was so funny when you fought with Grandma Eyde, I love going shopping with you, and it was so fun getting our nails done together. I also like when we have such random convos on the way to Shul and I love how you are always pushing me to do better.

Zelda

Switching outfits in the bathroom at the North Shore Center because I had worn a dress that day and she had pants on! That and going to the random party at an old milk bottling factory.

this is probably not my favorite memory but its the one I remembered; I had to have ear tubes put in, so I went with mommy to the building, we talked a lot and it was very fun. when I got in the office they showed me the tubes and the equipment it was really cool. They did the surgery and when I woke up in the bed I remember hearing mommy's voice, it seemed so loud to me louder than anything I ever heard before. I asked why see was yelling but she told me she wasn't. It was so fun hearing all the noises around me and I got to experience it with her by my side. afterwards when I came out we lie down in the grass, I got a grass stain on my pants and we talked about it and many other things related. It was a fun time I got to spend with her.

There are honestly too many to list from dance to hanging out at your parents house riding go carts, making videos, beach trips or visiting friends in college. It’s gotten even better as we’ve gotten older and I’ve had the privilege of seeing you get married and build your family! I love our talks and being able to catch up when we can.

I loved when Erin excitedly told me all about how Gerald proposed and how she told the story with such genuine joy. It made me think of the rare visit I'd had with Gerald a while before where he told me all about the most amazing girl he'd ever met and how he had told that story in much the same way. I remember being struck by the parallel and just feeling thrilled for both of you.

Jack Norby

There was a time, early on, when nothing in the world was as thrilling as the walk to Erin’s apartment. It wasn’t just a walk—it was an electric current, a heartbeat pounding in time with anticipation, the sheer, intoxicating knowledge that she was on the other side of that door. I would arrive, stepping into the soft glow of her world, and suddenly, everything sharpened—colors more vivid, sounds more crisp, the universe itself bending just a little closer to listen. The way she glanced up from her books, the smallest shift of her smile—it sent bolts of lightning down my spine. We ate Chinese food like it was the feast of gods, laughing over chopsticks and stolen bites. She studied, I watched, but even in silence, it was exhilarating—because I was there, with her. We stayed up too late, talking about books and philosophy, unraveling the great mysteries of the world, or simply reveling in the nearness of each other. It wasn’t just the newness of love. It was the gravity of it. The way the world faded except for this—her, us, the space between every word stretched tight with meaning. And to this day, when I think about those nights, I feel it again. That pulse, that thrill, that quiet certainty that nothing in the world mattered more than being in Erin’s orbit.
